Cave of Puci

Cave of Puci

This cave is located in the village of Bogë, on the northern slope of Mount Çardak, at an altitude of 1087 m above sea level. It is a real maze, with several floors, over 5 km long and 370 m deep. It ranks among the largest and most interesting caves in Europe. It is the deepest cave in Albania and it is part of the Albanian natural monuments. It is connected to the cave of Husi by a horizontal tunnel 275 m long and then continues as a separate cave, initially in the form of a large vertical well, which is separeted halfway to its depth. The central part of the cave is the most interesting. It consists of five floors, connected to each other by vertical wells and steep tunnels, thus forming a real maze, which it is very difficult to navigate. These are full of limestone concretions of rare beauty. Continuing in the cave, the floors are reduced to a single tunnel which gradually descends to a depth of 355 m. The cave has not been fully explored. The exploration of this cave is recommended only to speleologists.
